Karen Finley

Karen Finley (b. 1956, Chicago) is an American performance artist and poet, known for provocative works that merge art with social and political critique. She studied at the San Francisco Art Institute. In 1990, she gained attention as part of the “NEA Four” after her federal grant was controversially revoked. She has exhibited internationally and teaches at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
